We Have Fulfilled Promises Made to Pashinyan Regarding Lars: Russian Prime Minister

A record has been set at the Upper Lars checkpoint, with 31,622 trucks passing through in June, said Acting Head of the Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. He noted that the pace has been maintained, and there are no queues in July.

“This is a huge joint effort from both our agencies and partners. Our Armenian colleagues are also helping us coordinate our operations with our Georgian partners, with whom we are particularly agreeing on how to hand over vehicles for inspection,” said Davydov.

The Russian Prime Minister described such cooperation as “healthy collaboration.” “It is healthy cooperation. First and foremost, we must think about the people who suffer if such mechanisms do not function; they are left in queues, and entrepreneurs lose money,” added the Russian Prime Minister.

He reminded that on June 7 in Sochi, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had expressed concern on this issue, and they had made promises that have now been fulfilled. It is worth recalling that during a cabinet meeting on June 22, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the long-standing discussions between Armenia and Russia regarding the Upper Lars checkpoint had yielded concrete results.
