KP Official Suren Torosyan Summoned by Investigative Committee
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, Suren Torosyan, the head of the KP-affiliated Water Supply Company from the Talin enlarged community of Aragatsavan village, was summoned by the Investigative Committee for questioning yesterday.
As per our information, the accused Suren Torosyan refused to give testimony and answer questions during the interrogation. Furthermore, he did not recognize his guilt.
In contrast, the victim, Arman Sahakyan, insisted on his previous testimony, stating that KP-affiliated Suren Torosyan sprayed gas in his face and then struck him with a wooden object.
"Zhoghovurd" newspaper sought a comment from the victim Arman Sahakyan's lawyer, Arsen Babayan, who responded: "The participation of political authorities in this case is clearly visible. The crime attributed to Suren Torosyan evidently does not correspond with the action committed; a significantly milder crime has been assigned than what he actually committed. It is noteworthy that the investigator declared the preliminary investigation over today, just when I got involved in the proceedings and raised such questions. That is, the preliminary investigation into the incident that occurred on June 7 ends on July 18—just 40 days later."
Judging by the situation, law enforcement agencies seem to be trying to prevent the detention of KP member Torosyan and are only intending to impose a fine.
Recall that on June 7, 2023, a report was received at the Talin division of the RA Police regarding a conflict that erupted around 19:00 near a car wash in Aragatsavan. During this incident, KP member Suren Torosyan reportedly sprayed gas from a gas cylinder in the face of a 24-year-old local resident, A.S., and inflicted blows to various parts of his body with a wooden object, causing bodily harm. The victim received outpatient medical assistance.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated in the Talin investigative division of the Aragatsotn regional investigative department under Part 1 of Article 195 of the RA Criminal Code. On June 8, 2023, at 00:15, Suren T. was presented to the Talin investigative division by police officers.
A decision was made to arrest him based on direct and reasonable suspicion of having committed a crime. A.S. was recognized as a victim, after which the pre-investigation body released Torosyan and charged him. A month has passed since the incident, and it remains unclear what will happen to KP member Suren Torosyan. He also reportedly forced a minor from Artsakh out of the vehicle and left him on an abandoned street. Despite this, he continues to hold his position and remains unpunished.
