The Eldest Child of the Family: How a 14-Year-Old Boy Drowned in Debed
Today, the boy who drowned in the Debed River was identified as Misak Tonoyan, born in 2009. This was confirmed by Vahram Sharoyan, the administrative head of the Victory community, in a conversation with MediaHub.am.
The boy was the eldest child in his family, having one younger brother and two sisters. “They were registered in our village, but about ten years ago they moved to Bagratashen. Today, they came to the village to swim in the Debed. After entering the water, the child submerged and did not resurface. The father, noticing that the boy was missing, called me. The child had been underwater for about 15 minutes when we arrived. After he called me, my friend and I were there in two minutes. We swam for another 15 minutes and found the boy. We pulled him out of the water; the ambulance was already there. They attempted to provide first aid, but it was already clear that the child had died. He was transported to the village hospital, where his death was recorded,” recounted the administrative head with sorrow.
He noted that this incident is a shock for the village, a tragic event. “We did everything we could to save the boy. Unfortunately, we were not able to succeed,” Vahram Sharoyan stated.
