European Parliament Committee Calls on Hague Court to Issue Arrest Warrant for Lukashenko

The European Parliament's Committee on International Affairs has urged the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This call was made in a press release summarizing the findings of the parliament members' report.

The lawmakers have called for Lukashenko's arrest due to his involvement in the forced transfer of children from Ukraine. The committee believes that the country is responsible for the damage and crimes committed against Ukraine.

"Since the International Criminal Court has already issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children's rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, Members of the European Parliament are calling on the ICC to consider a similar decision regarding Alexander Lukashenko," the statement reads.

Additionally, the lawmakers believe that the EU Council should also expand the list of Belarusian and Russian individuals under sanctions to include those involved in the forced displacement of Ukrainian children.
