Video: New Details on the Assassination Plot Against Simonyan and Ksenia Sobchak

The Basmanny Court of the Russian Federation is currently reviewing the request for the detention of those accused of preparing assassination attempts against Margarita Simonyan, the chief editor of "Russia Today" and RT, and television host Ksenia Sobchak. This was reported by "The Rambler." The article states, "The accused were brought to court, materials have been received against them, and they are currently being examined."

The founder of the group, 18-year-old neo-Nazi Mikhail Balashov, confessed during interrogation that he and his accomplices had plotted to kill Simonyan and Sobchak. The young man stated that he was conducting reconnaissance at the residence of the RT editor-in-chief on behalf of a curator from Ukrainian special services. After that, he was to acquire weapons for the assassination. However, he was later detained by the FSB.

Previously, it was reported that the Federal Security Service and law enforcement had prevented the assassination plots against Margarita Simonyan and journalist Ksenia Sobchak by Ukrainian special services. During the investigation, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, 90 cartridges, knives, rubber batons, handcuffs, flags with Nazi symbols, Nazi literature, as well as communication equipment and computers containing information confirming their criminal activities were seized, as reported by the Federal Security Service.
