Abnormal Heat in Turkey: Temperatures to Reach Up to 45 Degrees
Significant heat is expected across much of Turkey this week, with temperatures nearing 45 degrees Celsius. This was reported by RIA Novosti. According to the Turkish Meteorological Authority, a temperature of 39.7 degrees was recorded yesterday on the Asian side of Istanbul, with the asphalt heating up to 50 degrees. Doctors, particularly Professor Ibrahim Ikizcel from Istanbul's Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty, have warned that anyone staying in the sun for more than 15-20 minutes risks sunburn.
The situation is even more severe in southern resort areas. While temperatures in Istanbul dropped to 32 degrees on Saturday, cities such as Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum, Marmaris, Mersin, and several others have exceeded +40 degrees, with some cases reaching +44 degrees. Due to the heat and widespread use of air conditioning, a new record for electricity consumption was set on July 14, surpassing 1 million 52 thousand megawatts.
