Attorney General's Office of Artsakh on the Arrest of Vitaly Balasanyan's Son
The Artsakh Republic's Attorney General's Office has addressed the report submitted by the Artsakh Rural and Agricultural Support Foundation to the criminal division responsible for corruption, property, economic activities, and public service crimes. The report revealed that under the council's decision dated June 14, 2021, a resident of Askeran, A. B., was granted a targeted loan agreement amounting to 74,500,000 AMD (seventy-four million five hundred thousand), intended for the purchase of bee families. However, it was found that the funds provided under the targeted loan agreement were used for purposes not specified in the contract, leading to significant damage to the state since they were not directed towards the mandatory acquisition of bee families as stipulated in the contract.
This information comes from the Attorney General's Office of Artsakh, which is responding to the accusations against the son of the Artsakh hero Vitaly Balasanyan. Considering that the materials present elements of a crime as defined under Article 199, Part 1 of the Artsakh Criminal Code (misuse of a loan), a criminal case was initiated on July 12, 2023.
The supervision of the legality of pre-trial criminal proceedings and procedural management is carried out by the division of the Attorney General's Office for corruption, property, economic activities, and public service crimes. It is noteworthy that earlier reports indicated the arrest of former Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh Vitaly Balasanyan, his son, and his nephew. A search was conducted at Balasanyan's residence that lasted for 40 minutes. Following his arrest, he was taken to the National Security Service and is currently at the prosecutor's office.
