VIDEO: Smoking Everywhere Indicates Something is Wrong - Khachatur Sukiasyan

Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the National Assembly from the My Step Alliance, has commented on the legislation banning smoking, calling it a disgrace.

“Smoking is happening everywhere,” he said, adding that laws are being passed but there are no resources to enforce them. “As a parliamentarian, I go in and sit down; we won’t allow ourselves to smoke in a café, but others are smoking. What should we say? Should we go in and say, ‘20 people are smoking,’ what should we say?”

Sukiasyan noted that with deeper consideration, it would have been possible to find other tools. “If we haven’t found any, I ask the authors to go back, monitor this year, study it, go into the cafés, and ask, ‘Sir, how many people are smoking at your place?’”

According to him, how do the authors of the law feel when they see people smoking in public places? “This means the law is not working; it means something is wrong.”
