Russian Interpol Wanted Man Arrested in Montenegro, Likely Criminal Authority Zhora Tbilisski
A Russian man wanted by Interpol has been arrested in Montenegro. RTVI reports that this is likely about the fugitive criminal authority Zhora Tbilisski.
According to RTCG, the state television and radio company, the man's arrest was announced on July 13 by local police. The 59-year-old individual identified by the initials G. M. was apprehended at the Tivat airport.
The man had come under international wanted status at the request of Interpol's Moscow bureau. It is presumed that this relates to 58-year-old Georgy Manukyan, known by the alias Zhora Tbilisski (Chinka). He has previously been imprisoned multiple times on drug charges. His last incarceration occurred in 2017 for extortion, but a court ruling was overturned in 2020. Currently, Zhora Tbilisski is listed as internationally wanted.
At the end of January 2023, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Krasnodar Territory announced the conclusion of the criminal investigation against the 58-year-old citizen.
“Since 1993, the man has occupied the highest position in the criminal hierarchy in the city of Krasnodar. He has been subordinated to individuals with a lower criminal status. By preserving the criminal traditions and customs of the criminal milieu, he has expanded his influence in the Krasnodar Territory based on selfish motivations,” stated the agency's report.
It is also reported that the man has been charged in absentia and a measure of restraint has been selected in the form of detention for two months from the time of his location.
