Polish Doctors Have Arrived in Tbilisi to Examine Saakashvili
The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced yesterday that a group of Polish doctors has traveled to Tbilisi for a comprehensive medical examination of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
In recent months, Georgian authorities had not permitted foreign doctors to conduct medical examinations on Saakashvili, who is located at the 'VivaMed' clinic.
On July 12, the head of the medical department of the Special Penitentiary Service, Malkhaz Urtmelidze, made a special announcement indicating that Saakashvili has started to gain weight. “When he eats, he gains weight normally; he feels good. When he doesn’t eat, his condition worsens. If he recovers quickly, we will transfer him to prison,” Urtmelidze stated.
Earlier, Polish authorities had offered to send Saakashvili for treatment in Poland, but Tbilisi rejected that proposal.
