Those Who Trust in the Safety of Fukushima Should Drink Its Water, Says China’s Foreign Ministry
China’s Foreign Ministry has suggested that the water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant can be used for drinking and bathing by those who trust in its safety. This statement was made by a spokesperson for the ministry during a regular press briefing on Tuesday, as reported by TASS.
“If someone believes that the radioactive contaminated water from Fukushima is suitable for drinking or swimming, we propose that the Japanese side use that radioactive contaminated water for those individuals to drink and bathe, rather than dumping it into the ocean, which causes concern among the international community,” the official representative of China’s Foreign Ministry stated.
It should be noted that the IAEA has published a report emphasizing that Japan’s plans for discharging water “are in line with international standards.” This announcement has been responded to by China’s Foreign Ministry.
