Public Television Uses 'Nagorno-Karabakh' Instead of 'Republic of Artsakh'
Public Television has started using the term 'Nagorno-Karabakh' instead of 'Republic of Artsakh' in its reports and broadcasts.
Aysor.am sent a written inquiry to the television station to clarify the reasons behind this change. The response from the public relations department stated:
‘According to the second point of the first article of the Constitution of Artsakh, the names Republic of Artsakh and Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh are identical. Therefore, both terms are equivalently usable. The first information channel publishes multimedia content in 4 languages, including news about the region for an international audience. In this context, the term 'Nagorno-Karabakh,' as an internationally recognized term, has found broader application.’
