Who Can Become the Director of the Matenadaran: "Hraparak"

The Matenadaran's Board of Trustees has been dissolved, and after amendments to the charter, even those with a Candidate of Sciences degree can now become the director of the Matenadaran. Previously, only Ph.D. holders were eligible to participate in the competition.

According to the "Hraparak" newspaper, the deadline for submissions for the vacant director position ended on July 7. We learned that three candidates have submitted their applications: Acting Director Karen Matevosyan, whom the staff desires, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports Ara Khzmalyan, and Doctor of Historical and Philological Sciences Arzruni Sahakyan, a researcher at the Matenadaran. The competition is set to take place on July 17.

Since the Board of Trustees has a government composition, we can already congratulate Ara Khzmalyan, who was previously the head of the Matenadaran archive and has decided to return to the main institution.
