Essential Means for Survival Are Lacking in Artsakh: Tatoyan

We had a discussion about the extreme situation created in Artsakh with students from the "Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights," writes Arman Tatoyan, director of the Center for Law and Justice "Tatoyan Foundation" and former Human Rights Defender of Armenia. "We spoke about the repercussions of the wars unleashed by Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh, the illegal incursions by Azerbaijan, the blockade of the lifeline between Artsakh and Armenia, and the isolation of Artsakh residents from the outside world.

Artsakh has been under complete blockade for the 211th day. There is a lack of essential means for survival, including food, hygiene supplies, medicines, and fuel. There are serious issues related to electricity and drinking water. The medical staff is deprived of the opportunity to perform surgeries, and all of this is accompanied by regular gunfire and threats. This inhumane situation aims to force the population to leave their homes, which is not just a violation of human rights but an annihilation of them," he stated.
