Armenian Shooting Team to Compete at World Championship in Baku

The Armenian shooting team will participate in the World Championship taking place in Baku. This was stated in an interview with Armenpress by the head coach of the Armenian national team, Seyran Nikoghosyan.

“We have sent several letters and received responses that everything will be provided for us, and we have no issues. We are going to the World Championship where Olympic qualification will be contested. Such an event cannot be missed,” Nikoghosyan said.

According to the coach, the team currently has one quota, but there are hopes to secure two more places.

Regarding the result of the team's performance at the European Games, Nikoghosyan emphasized that the assessment of their work is that they are silver medalists and record holders. As for the individual competitions, the failure was tied to the strong desire to achieve good results.

“As for competing well in the mixed events, an experienced shooter has paired with a less experienced one. They complement each other,” he noted.

At the end of this month, the team will hold a training camp in Poland, and from August 14, they will participate in the World Championship in Baku. Members of the Armenian shooting team, Elmira Karapetyan and Benik Khlyghtyan, became silver medalists at the European Games, securing second place in the 10m air pistol mixed event with a total score of 581 points. The Italian team took first place.

In individual competitions, Elmira Karapetyan and Benik Khlyghtyan did not advance past the qualification round.
