Court Rejects Yerevan Mayor's Lawsuits Against Ishkhan Saghatelyan

The court has rejected the lawsuits filed by the Mayor of Yerevan against Ishkhan Saghatelyan, in which the municipality sought to fine him based on the fact of holding unauthorized gatherings. This was reported by lawyer Vahe Grigoryan on his Facebook page.

“As I promised, the Mayor of Yerevan has lost for the 3rd and 4th time as well. Based on the fact of protests and unauthorized gatherings that took place last year, the Mayor of Yerevan has filed 4 lawsuits against Ishkhan Saghatelyan, demanding to impose a fine on him as the organizer, amounting to 300,000 AMD, totaling 1,200,000 AMD overall. I am the representative for all four related cases, and the protection of his rights and freedoms in these matters is carried out by me,” he stated.

“On June 9, I had already announced that the Mayor of Yerevan lost in two of the cases against Ishkhan Saghatelyan, namely VD/5036/05/22 and VD/5094/05/22. Just recently, the RA Administrative Court also satisfied our demands regarding cases VD2/0186/05/22 and VD2/0178/05/22, that is, it rejected the two lawsuits of the Mayor of Yerevan against Ishkhan Saghatelyan.”

“P.S. Dear and beloved journalists, the losing party is the Mayor of Yerevan in office; in his absence, his duties are temporarily carried out by another, since the right to file a lawsuit is tied to the position of the community leader, and after Hrachya Sargsyan's resignation, those performing the duties of the Mayor of Yerevan have not abandoned the lawsuit. Please acknowledge this,” he wrote.
