Baku Claims UN Court Reaffirmed Azerbaijan's Right to Control Its Borders

Baku claims that the International Court of Justice has reaffirmed "Azerbaijan's right to control its borders." The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry welcomed the court's decision, which, according to Baku, was misinterpreted by the Armenian side, reports "Azatutyun".

The Azerbaijani diplomatic agency continues to assert that the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh "are crossing through the border checkpoint," and the establishment of this checkpoint, as stated in the announcement, was "due to the urgent need to stop the illegal flow of weapons, military equipment, and soldiers into Azerbaijan's sovereign territory."

Yesterday, the International Court of Justice made a decision regarding Armenia's request to supplement its interim measures order from February 22 in the case against Azerbaijan, which was related to the establishment of a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor.

"The court reaffirmed its February 22, 2023 decision, which obligated Azerbaijan to take all measures to guarantee the unhindered movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions through the Lachin corridor, and found that there is currently no need to supplement its February 22, 2023 decision," stated the office of the representative for international legal issues.
