On the night of July 6, at least 24 people were killed in the northern region of South Africa due to a gas leak. According to the TASS agency, this was reported by the emergency services of Gauteng province.
"A leak of nitrogen gas occurred in an illegal settlement near the city of Boksburg. All those who were near the gas supply cylinder have died. The cylinder was located in the yard of one of the houses," said service representative William Ntladin.
According to him, the preliminary investigation has shown that nitrogen was used for illegal extraction of minerals.
