Kakhovka Reservoir No Longer Exists, Says Kherson Officials

The Kakhovka Reservoir has simply ceased to exist following Ukrainian sabotage a month ago on the namesake hydroelectric power station. This was stated by the acting governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.

“Today, there is no Kakhovka Reservoir,” Saldo said.

Previously, the president of the movement “We Are Together with Russia,” Vladimir Rogov, published a photograph of the now desolate reservoir, later referring to the images as the “Kakhovka Desert.”

It is worth recalling that on June 6, the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station collapsed due to bombardment by the Ukrainian armed forces. This caused flooding in 35 settlements in the Kherson region, including Nova Kakhovka. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the damage from the explosion amounts to 1.2 billion rubles. Reports indicate that 53 people lost their lives as a result of the dam's breach.
