Government Grants Exemption to Weightlifter Samvel Gasparyan

The government decided today, July 6, to grant a deferral from mandatory military service to Samvel Avetis Gasparyan, a weightlifter with significant achievements in sports, for the upcoming summer conscription of 2023.

It is worth noting that 26-year-old Samvel Gasparyan is a silver medalist at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championship for adults. As a member of Armenia's weightlifting team and a bronze medalist at the World Championships, Gasparyan (109 kg) has once again been crowned the European champion, winning a gold medal at the ongoing championship in Yerevan with a total lift of 395 kg (175+220 kg).
