The Priority Way to Assist Artsakh is Not to Harm It: Artak Beglaryan
According to Artak Beglaryan, advisor to the Prime Minister of Artsakh, the priority way to assist Artsakh is to not harm it.
“Today marks the Constitution Day of the Republic of Armenia and my birthday. While congratulating all of us Armenians on the occasion of the Mother Armenia's Mother Law Day, I do not expect any birthday wishes. Instead, I would like to draw the attention of everyone who respects me once again to the current situation in Artsakh and to what each one of us can do. In these harsh conditions, the Armenian people of Artsakh are lacking not so much in food, fuel, or other material resources but rather in practical attention. Certainly, the primary burden of this struggle lies with the Armenian people of Artsakh, who bear their share of national responsibility, but we expect attention primarily from the Armenian people and the Armenian state as the rightful owner and principal stakeholder of Artsakh.
During the blockade, numerous initiatives have been undertaken to support Artsakh, and we are grateful to all the authors and participants of those initiatives. Now we have a challenge to make the initiatives supporting Artsakh more practical and extensive. Among these, I would like to highlight 'Hayakve,' which is practical because it aims to strengthen and guarantee the state-national obligations regarding Artsakh and the Armenian Genocide, as enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, through the application of a clear mechanism. The main value of Hayakve is the practical and ideological unification around Artsakh, which clearly signals to the Armenian people of Artsakh that we have not been left alone in our just and national struggle.
Artsakh holds exceptional significance for the past, present, and future of the Armenian people and the Armenian statehood. Therefore, it lies within the national and civic obligations of every Armenian to serve the goal of a safe and Armenian Artsakh. This can be done through honest state-national service, joining Hayakve or other actions, implementing various programs, or conducting advocacy and awareness-raising actions in Armenia and other countries, among many other ways.
However, I would like to emphasize that the priority way to assist Artsakh is not to harm it. Active harmful forms include pushing it into the abyss of Azerbaijan, even in words, inciting divisions among Artsakh residents and other segments of the Armenian population, and so on. Passive forms include indifference, despair, and compliance, among others.
Therefore, dear compatriots in every corner of the world, taking advantage of my festive and birthday rights, I ask, urge, and demand from each of you:
• Do not harm Artsakh, thus harming the entire Armenian nation and Armenian statehood,
• Do not allow others to harm it either,
• Do not succumb to the enemy’s traps of despair and hopelessness,
• Support any initiative aimed at assisting Artsakh in practical ways,
• Do not forget that goals are achieved through struggle, that struggles come with sacrifices, and that without struggle, nations quickly roll under the ground beneath the sun,” Beglaryan wrote on his Facebook page.
