How Many People Joined the Russian Armed Forces in the Last 6 Months: Medvedev
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia and former President Dmitry Medvedev stated that from January 1 to July 4, more than 185,000 people have joined the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces.
This announcement was made during a consultation dedicated to additional staffing issues with contract servicemen, as reported by Kommersant.
“According to the Ministry of Defense, during the period from January 1 to July 4 of this year, more than 185,000 people have been accepted into the ranks of the Armed Forces, of which about 109,000 are in reserve and other categories of citizens called up for contract service,” Medvedev said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council noted that as a result of the measures taken, the pace of contract selections increased in June, reaching 1,400 people per day. “I want to specifically mention that the attempted armed rebellion did not change citizens' attitudes towards contract service in the RF region,” he added.
According to Dmitry Medvedev, in just the last week alone, nearly 10,000 people have signed contracts with the Armed Forces.
