Dilinjan Police Chief Who Assaulted Minor is Free: Details Revealed

The police chief of Dilinjan, Arsen Ghaitmazyan, who assaulted a minor waiter at the "Haghartsin" restaurant-hotel complex, has had his detention measure changed and is now free, reports Aravot.am.

"I did not recognize that boy, and he did not recognize me, neither at that moment nor previously. We simply misunderstood each other at that time; our ways of speaking did not please each other, leading to an argument between us. A conversation arose between us regarding the overnight stay: it was about this number or that number. There was also a discussion regarding payment, where I stated, 'just tell me the maximum time frame, for example, until 10 in the morning, whether I will leave at 7 or if I will change my mind in one hour; I cannot say, just let me know, and I will pay the total amount for leaving on time; you will calculate and return my money.' I took out the money to give, and they said it would be after leaving," said Ghaitmazyan.

"He specifically wanted to know how long I would be staying there, and I kept saying I couldn’t say. As for the fact that he was a minor, if someone can imagine that an employee of the venue could be a minor at 1 AM, I would love to meet that person. That boy had a sporty posture; I could not imagine he was a minor," Ghaitmazyan noted.

He denied being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. "That did not happen; I was not under the influence of alcohol. I simply had a bit of a problem and wanted to avoid staying at home that day. I tried to stay there overnight, but that did not work out either," he added.

Ghaitmazyan stated that his powers have been suspended and that he has been charged. "I admit that I assaulted that boy, but I do not admit that I tortured him or that I assaulted a minor."
