Armenia Can Decide Who Its Allies and Partners Are: US Ambassador to Armenia

The United States believes that Armenia, as a sovereign state, can determine who its allies and partners are. This was stated by Kristina Quinn, the US Ambassador to Armenia, during a broadcast on Public TV while discussing Armenia-Russia relations.

“What does the United States want to see? Peace in Europe, peace in the South Caucasus. And we are ready to talk to any side that can present a positive vision for bringing peace to the region. The United States is very actively involved, but the European Union is also very actively involved. Because both we and they see that having peace and security in the region is indeed beneficial,” the ambassador said.

“We have very important interests in Armenia. But what is the interest of the United States? That we and you share common democratic values, and we are committed to common democratic processes. We see that Armenia is indeed a bright spot in terms of democracy in the region,” added the diplomat.

Speaking about relations with Iran, Ambassador Quinn stated that Armenia is a sovereign state that “can have relationships with its neighbors and other countries in the world.”

“We appreciate the fact that Armenia maintains the United States' sanctions against Iran. However, beyond that, Armenia itself must decide what kind of relationship it wants to have with Iran,” Kristina Quinn concluded.
