Russia Has Always Overcome Any Adversity, This Time Will Be No Different – Lavrov

Russia has always overcome any adversity, and this has made it stronger, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated while commenting on last week's armed rebellion attempt by the private military company Wagner in Russia. This was reported by rt.com.

“Russia has always overcome any adversities, and it is hard to classify (the rebellion attempt) as anything worse than hardship. It has always emerged stronger and more fortified. This will be the case this time as well. Moreover, we are already sensing that this process has begun,” said the chief diplomat of the Russian Federation.

Recall that on Saturday night, fighters of the Wagner private military company seized the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. This occurred against the backdrop of statements made by Yevgeny Prigozhin, asserting that the Russian Armed Forces had launched missile strikes on Wagner's camps. A criminal case has been initiated against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin labeled the actions of the rebels as a “criminal adventure,” a “knife in the back of Russia,” and “treason.” Later, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko conducted negotiations with Prigozhin, agreed upon with Putin, after which Lukashenko's press service reported that the company's leader accepted Lukashenko's proposal to halt Wagner's movement in Russia and to take further steps toward de-escalation.
