"Clashes Are Inevitable," Says Davit Ananyan

Davit Ananyan, the former head of the State Revenue Committee, addressed the Washington negotiations during an appearance on "24TV." He stated, "If we consider the negotiations as an opportunity for dialogue, it is a much better process than the frenzy of solving issues with batons. However, if we return to our reality and discuss when negotiations should be conducted, from what positions, and with what agenda, then at this moment Armenia does not exhibit the prerequisites or the right stance for negotiations."

According to him, the negotiations are periodically being led into a dead end due to Azerbaijani efforts, as the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem is well aware that the Armenian authorities are tolerant. "Negotiations should not dull our vigilance; unfortunately, there will be facts in the near future, and we will be convinced that the war has not ended. I think clashes are going to occur, the aim of which is to seize new territories and extract much more from a tolerant government," the speaker noted.
