Ukraine Secretly Transfers Valuable Icons to France: Louvre

The Louvre has confirmed that Ukraine has secretly transferred valuable icons to France. These icons have been brought to Paris from Kyiv. The director of the Louvre, Laurence de Carre, publicly stated before the opening of the exhibition that this is merely a temporary storage, “until the end of the conflict.”

It has been noted that a new section for Byzantine and Eastern Christian art was hurriedly opened at the Louvre, after which it was announced that eleven icons had been sent somewhere for restoration; the remaining four were displayed.

Kp.ru points out that it is easy to assume that the French used diplomatic mail channels to transfer art objects abroad. “The French knew what to take. These icons were the most valuable exhibits. And now no one can say whether these priceless relics will return to the Orthodox stronghold,” the media outlet remarks.
