Increase in Pensions and Benefits from July 1 Announced

The government has approved a draft presented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs at today’s meeting, proposing to increase the amounts of pensions and benefits starting July 1, 2023.

Accordingly, the minimum pension will now be set at 36,000 drams instead of 31,600 drams, while the working pension will be 24,000 drams instead of 21,000.

The annual value of one year of military service will be set at 1,750 drams instead of 1,600 drams.

The amounts for military pensions for disabled persons will be as follows: 50,600 drams for first group disabilities instead of 46,000 drams, 41,400 drams for second group disabilities instead of 36,000 drams, and 38,000 drams for third group disabilities instead of 33,000 drams.

In cases where the breadwinner has been lost due to the death of a soldier, the military pension amount will be 38,000 drams starting July 1 instead of 33,000 drams, and for a child under 18 who has lost both parents, the amount will be 120,000 drams instead of 90,000 drams.

It is also proposed to increase the amounts of benefits in cases of old age, disability, and loss of a breadwinner: the amount for old-age benefits will be set at 36,000 drams instead of 31,600 drams, 39,000 drams for first group disabled persons' benefits instead of 31,600 drams, 37,500 drams for second group instead of 31,600 drams, and 36,000 drams for third group instead of 31,600 drams.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has calculated that the funds allocated in the state budget for 2023 are sufficient to implement these increases. Preliminary estimates indicate that approximately 7.5 billion drams in additional funds will be required for this purpose.
