Bodies of Two Soldiers Killed in Artsakh on June 28 Unable to Be Transferred to Armenia

On June 28, due to Azerbaijani provocations in the Martakert and Martuni directions, the bodies of soldiers Yervand Tadevosyan and Samvel Torosyan have not been successfully transferred to Armenia, said Gegham Stepanyan, the Ombudsman of Artsakh, in an interview with Aysor.am.

The Ombudsman clarified that Yervand Tadevosyan's family was displaced from the Kashatagh region due to the 44-day war and currently lives in Vedi. Due to the blockade, Yervand's parents have been deprived of the opportunity to bid farewell to their son. Meanwhile, the parents of Samvel Torosyan, residing in Stepanakert, have expressed their desire to bury their son in Yerablur.

“Working with the Russian peacekeepers has not yielded results yet; at this moment, we are trying to organize the transfer through the Red Cross,” Gegham Stepanyan stated.

Stepanyan notes that Azerbaijan is exploiting the issue of transferring the bodies of soldiers born and raised in Artsakh for propaganda purposes, interpreting it as proof that Armenian soldiers still remain in Artsakh. He emphasizes that both Yervand Tadevosyan and Samvel Torosyan were citizens of the Republic of Artsakh.

The Ombudsman of Artsakh reminds us that during the blockade, there have been 36 instances where it has not been possible to transfer the bodies of deceased individuals from Armenia to Artsakh and vice versa. Stepanyan highlights that Azerbaijan’s brutal policies, including those towards the deceased, once again reveal Azerbaijan's singular agenda: to have Artsakh without Armenians.
