Hayk Marutyan Returns to Armenia and Has Made a Decision: 'Zhoghovurd'
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that actor and former Yerevan mayor Hayk Marutyan has recently returned to Armenia and decided to participate in the upcoming Yerevan city council elections.
According to 'Zhoghovurd', after considerable contemplation, Marutyan has made a final decision regarding his participation in the upcoming council elections. Our sources inform us that after receiving rejections from the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) led by Stepan Demirchyan, Marutyan has opted to approach the leader of the 'Sovereign Armenia' party, Davit Sanasaryan. Sanasaryan has agreed, and on September 17, the former mayor of Yerevan will once again try his hand at the city council elections.
We have also learned that Marutyan plans to meet with his team soon to announce this decision. Sources from 'Zhoghovurd' indicate that Marutyan found it difficult to make a definitive choice; initially, he told close associates that he felt more connected to his profession as an actor and did not wish to return to the mayor's office, but he has since changed his mind.
Yesterday, 'Zhoghovurd' attempted to verify this information directly with Hayk Marutyan, but our messages and phone calls have yet to receive a response.
