International Community Bears Responsibility for Action: The Issue of Lachin Raised at the UN
In the context of the existential threat faced by the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the international community bears the responsibility to take action and prevent crimes against humanity.
During a discussion held on June 26 under the agenda item "Responsibility to Protect and Preventing Genocides, War Crimes, Ethnic Cleansing and Crimes Against Humanity," Armenia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Mhher Margaryan, emphasized this point.
The discussion addressed Azerbaijan's ongoing blockade of the Lachin corridor, which violates its legal obligations and the ruling of the International Court of Justice, endangering innocent lives in contravention of international humanitarian law.
It was noted that Armenia has appealed to the UN to send a mission to Nagorno-Karabakh to assess the humanitarian, security and human rights situation of the population.
