VIDEO: Armenia Will Not Allow Azerbaijan to Carry Out Ethnic Cleansing in Artsakh, Says NA President

NA President Alen Simonyan addressed the statements made by Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, which deem additional guarantees for the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh impossible. According to Simonyan, such statements harm Azerbaijan itself.

“In such circumstances, they are not solving the issue that has been the cause of the problem for decades. This is a flight from reality,” he said, adding that he is confident that at some point Azerbaijan will address this issue.

The NA President also recalled the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, which also remains unfulfilled. “The country that is supposed to provide guarantees does not want or cannot take action. I am not currently convinced that we should record this in a peace treaty and not in another document, which any country or countries should guarantee. If this issue is not included and discussed, and if there is no resolution to this issue, then most of the negotiations will be meaningless conversations,” he stated.

In a conversation with journalists regarding the situation in Artsakh, Alen Simonyan noted, “Let’s not rush, because proposals are always on the table; let’s see what happens. If the issue is not resolved from Azerbaijan’s point of view, they will not be able to maintain the country or carry out ethnic cleansing following the logic of an ostrich policy.”
