Shots Instead of Salutes in Yerevan: What is Known

On June 24, gunshots were heard in Yerevan. On that day, operational information was received at the Kanakerr-Zeytun division of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs that on June 23, a resident of building 126/4 on Kanakerts Street had fired several shots from his apartment balcony.

According to Shamshyan.com, residents of the building attempted to mislead the police about the nature of the shots, claiming that there was no such incident. However, the police quickly found that the information was indeed credible.

A 56-year-old man, Vardan A., was taken into custody on suspicion of firing the shots. Under pressure of the evidence, he confessed that it was his grandson's birthday, he didn’t have fireworks, and he was forced to fire from his hunting rifle.

Vardan A. has been presented to the investigative division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in Yerevan's Kanakerr-Zeytun district, where an investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
