Avoid Combining Mushrooms with Alcohol, Warns Food Safety Authority
Considering the recent cases of mushroom poisoning, the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia urges the public to:
- Refrain from purchasing mushrooms gathered independently from forests or fields, or sold in streets.
- Avoid buying mushrooms without proper packaging or clear information about their origin.
- Not collect mushrooms that grow near roads and railways, as they tend to accumulate toxic substances.
- Avoid buying and using mixed, unverified mushrooms.
It is also advisable to refrain from consuming mushrooms with alcohol, as alcohol facilitates the rapid absorption of toxins into the body.
Initial symptoms of mushroom poisoning include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and dizziness. If such issues arise after consumption, it is necessary to seek medical attention promptly.
This warning is prompted by reported cases of poisoning related to unidentified source mushrooms.
