Son of Surik Khachatryan to be Arrested

The court has approved the request submitted by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Syunik regional department to select detention as a measure of restraint for Tigran Khachatryan. This was announced by Gor Abrahamyan, the spokesperson for the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, on his Facebook page.

“Yesterday, it was reported that a public criminal prosecution has been initiated against T. Khachatryan under the first part of Article 335, the second part of Article 171, point 7, and the third part of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia,” he stated.

According to the factual data obtained during the preliminary investigation, on June 19 at around 8:30 PM, T. Khachatryan, driving his Mercedes-Benz with two close associates, went to an auto service point. During a discussion regarding a certain issue, using a trivial pretext, motivated by the obsession to emphasize his superiority and demonstrate audacious behavior, he provoked a conflict with the employees, uttering sexual slurs towards them.

Then, demonstrating a blatant disregard for public order, he fired a shot from an illegally possessed firearm towards a 46-year-old man, causing injuries characteristic of light bodily harm, and left the scene of the incident. The police have been instructed to locate Tigran Khachatryan and present him to the prosecuting body,” the announcement states.
