Russian Peacekeepers' Fuel and Food Supplies Are Running Out: 'Hraparak'

'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'Following the incident at the Hakari Bridge last week, the food crisis emerging in Artsakh, which is completely blocked, is a problem not only for the people of Artsakh but also for the Russian troops carrying out a peacekeeping mission there.

The issue is that the food for the several thousand Russian soldiers who found themselves in Artsakh after the war is not being resolved locally, but is instead supplied via coupons from the 102nd military base located in Gyumri, along with fuel and other essential goods, while they are only received and stored in Artsakh. Now that Azerbaijanis are even preventing the transport of humanitarian cargo through the Lachin corridor, Russian peacekeepers find themselves facing the same issue as the Armenians from Artsakh. The fuel issue, in particular, is critical.

From our local sources, we have learned that Russian peacekeepers are negotiating with the Azerbaijani side to allow their entry, but so far they have not received a positive response. While the Azerbaijanis have expressed a desire to make a 'humanitarian' gesture by offering to take care of the Russian side's food and fuel issues, the Russians have not yet capitulated, or as our source says, they have not received instructions from above.

The matter is not merely about food or fuel; it is more political, as the control of Lachin is reserved for the Russian side according to the trilateral statement of November 9. Receiving supplies from Azerbaijan would also mean a step towards integration with Azerbaijan.'
