Residents of Another Azerbaijani Region Have Gone Out to Protest, Blocking a Road
Residents of the Dashuz village in the Sheki region, whose homes have been affected by recent inclement weather, have blocked a highway today. This was reported by Azerbaijani media outlets.
Angry citizens have appealed to official authorities, demanding assistance and support. It should be noted that earlier reports indicated that since June 22, access to the village of Gutabek (Soyudlu) in the Goychay region of Azerbaijan has been restricted.
One of the villagers stated in an interview with journalists that there were police officers in the village who did not allow people to hold a demonstration. He mentioned that even individuals coming to participate in the funeral of a relative were not allowed to enter the village.
“We demand that our rights be respected. We have repeatedly appealed to the country’s leadership and local authorities, but our requests have not been addressed,” he said.
Rufat Safarov, the executive director of the human rights organization “Defense Line,” told the media that instead of making rational decisions, the government is deepening isolation and opting for a policy of force.
