Armenian Wrestling Teams to Compete in European Youth Championship
The Armenian teams in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling will participate in the European Youth Championship, which will take place in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This was announced by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
The Armenian freestyle wrestling youth team will be represented by Harutyun Hovhannisyan (57 kg), Levik Mikayelyan (61 kg), Andranik Avetisyan (65 kg), Davit Margaryan (70 kg), Hayk Papikyan (74 kg), Narek Grigoryan (79 kg), Musheg Mkrtchyan (86 kg), Knyaz Ibroyan (92 kg), and Gurgan Simonyan (97 kg).
The youth freestyle wrestlers will compete under the guidance of coaches Avetik Vardanyan, Armen Malakhasyan, Hakob Avetisyan, and Karapet Yangoyan.
The Greco-Roman wrestling youth team will also participate with 10 athletes. The team includes Homerus Arakelyan (55 kg), Suren Aghajanyan (60 kg), Yurik Hovhayan (63 kg), Gaspar Terteryan (67 kg), Ashot Khachatryan (72 kg), Vahe Hovhannisyan (77 kg), Ruben Gevorgyan (82 kg), Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg), Arshak Geghamyan (97 kg), and Aramayis Harutyunyan (130 kg).
The coaches for the Greco-Roman team are Movses Karapetyan, Armen Arakelyan, Tigran Sahakyan, and Zhora Vardanyan. Gurgan Sahakyan will be included in the referees for the European Youth Championship.
The championship will be held from June 26 to July 2.
