WATCH: Upper Lars Crossings Increased from 11 to 39, a Major Change, Says Maher Grigoryan

Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Maher Grigoryan has announced that the Upper Lars crossings have increased from 11 to 39. He stated, “This is a significant and important change. The record for the number of vehicles passing in one day in 2020-2021 was 300 trucks; today, it is 100, and in recent days, 1,400 vehicles have passed in both directions, which is very significant. Moreover, just yesterday there were 409 free crossings,” Grigoryan said.

He also noted that in the Russian part of Lars, there is one passage for oversized cargo. “That one passage could be occupied all day,” he added. According to Grigoryan, despite global logistical reorganizations occurring worldwide, this solution should not create any obstacles for Armenian cargo.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the Prime Ministers of Russia and Georgia, for addressing the issues related to Upper Lars. Pashinyan emphasized that improving operations at this point has always been part of his discussions with the Russian President, Mikhail Mishustin, and Irakli Garibashvili. He mentioned that recent extended negotiations with Russian partners have yielded results. This will expedite processes within the framework of recent global logistical changes.
