Wagering Will Become More Challenging

The government has approved a legislative package related to the online gambling sector. It is established that online gambling in the country will be possible exclusively through cashless options, using bank and card accounts.

Finance Minister Vahagn Khachatryan announced that the depositing or withdrawing of cash into or from the accounts of totalizator participants will be prohibited. According to him, a totalizator participant's account can only be replenished through an account belonging to that player.

"The aim of the project is for players to wager only from their accounts. This makes their behavior more controllable," he said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that this is one of the government's fundamental reforms, which has a long history dating back to 2015-2016.
