Photos: 13th Century Cross Stone Damaged by Lightning in Vayots Dzor

A cross stone from the 13th century has been damaged by lightning in the Vayots Dzor Province. The sculpture, located in the administrative district of Karmrashen, has raised concerns among local heritage protection staff.

Representatives from the Republic of Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS) have reported that the damaged cross stone was discovered during a routine inspection by heritage protection officials in the Vayots Dzor region.

The MoESCS’s Preservation Service is currently discussing the future of the cross stone with specialists.
