Environmental Ministry Clarification on 'Illegal Sand Mine on the Shore of Sevan'

The Ministry of Environment has issued a clarification: "Dear citizens, in response to publications circulating on social networks and in the media titled 'Alert: An illegal sand mine operates on the shore of Sevan', we would like to inform the following:

Prior to the dissemination of the alert on social networks, on June 20 of this year, as a result of necessary and operational work conducted by representatives of the Gegharkunik Regional Department of the Police of Armenia in Chambarak, an illegal case of subsoil usage was discovered in the area adjacent to the Yerevan-Shorja M14 highway.

Representatives of the 'Sevan' National Park and the Environmental and Subsoil Inspection Body of the Gegharkunik region arrived at the site. The materials have been forwarded to the Environmental and Subsoil Inspection Body of Armenia. An administrative case has been initiated by the inspection body concerning the fact. The public will be provided with additional information."
