Arman Tatoyan: A New Compromise Candidate?

Arman Tatoyan: A New Compromise Candidate?

The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: For months, there have been rumors circulating that former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan may participate in the Yerevan elections. Since his resignation, various political forces and individuals have been urging him to enter politics, but he has declined. Regarding the Yerevan elections, he told our reporter a few days ago that he has received an offer but has not yet made a decision.

In recent days, we have been receiving information from various sources that Tatoyan has made a decision, and preparatory works are being carried out in this direction. An attempt is underway to form a broad consolidation around Tatoyan. Essentially, he is considered the compromise candidate around whom several forces could unite and nominate a joint candidate.

Of course, the authorities will try to dilute the field and introduce as many candidates as possible into the game so that those forces can take votes away from each other, thus diminishing the opposition's chances and facilitating the victory of the ruling party.

However, some opposition figures are aware of this and are doing everything possible to thwart the authorities' plans. In this context, Tatoyan is among the suitable candidates. However, Tatoyan did not respond to our calls and messages yesterday.
