Russians Knew Well They Were Assisting Azerbaijanis in Installing Flag on Armenian Territory, Ioannisyan

Russians knew well that they were assisting Azerbaijanis in placing a flag on Armenian territory. This was stated by Daniel Ioannisyan, the head of the 'Informed Citizens' Union', on his Facebook page, where he also published a 1975 map of the USSR General Staff.

“This is a map of the USSR General Staff from 1975, at a scale of 1/100,000. The Armenian-Azerbaijani border, in the part where the Hakari Bridge is located (marked by the red dot), runs along the Hakari River. In other words, the western side of the river (the side where the Russians and Azerbaijanis were setting up the flag) is part of the Republic of Armenia. To be clearer, a little further south, the border crosses the western side of the river, and at that point, both banks of the river belong to Azerbaijan. However, near the Hakari Bridge, according to the USSR General Staff map, the border is exactly along the river.

In other words, the Russians, guided by their own General Staff maps, knew very well that they were helping Azerbaijanis place a flag on Armenian territory,” he wrote.

It should be noted that yesterday, footage circulated online showing how Azerbaijanis attempted to set up a flag on Armenian territory with the help of Russian peacekeepers.
