Daniel Ellsberg, Who Exposed US Actions in Vietnam, Dies at 92

Daniel Ellsberg, the whistleblower of Pentagon secrets, has passed away at the age of 92. This is reported by The Washington Post.

The Pentagon Papers were a top-secret collection of documents pertaining to the preparation and conduct of the US war in Vietnam. Ellsberg submitted these documents to The New York Times, where they were published in 1971.

The papers revealed that the administration of President Lyndon Johnson, who was in office from 1963 to 1969, had deliberately pursued a policy of escalating military actions in Vietnam while US officials publicly claimed that they were not seeking to expand the conflict. The publication of the dossier eroded the trust of the American and global public in the US government.
