VIDEO: If Azerbaijanis Get a 'Corridor', They Will Fill Syunik. Seyran Ohanyan
Azerbaijan has attempted to advance towards the area of the Hakari Bridge to increase its blockade in Artsakh and conduct its own border demarcation. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the 'Armenia' faction, during a conversation with journalists today, June 15.
“They were going to declare, under the Azerbaijani flag, that this is ours. They are creating tense situations in different areas to divert attention from reality and push their goals forward. It is good that the Armenian side has been able to push them back; it is the duty of the Armed Forces to always be combat-ready, to prevent such cases and think a step ahead. I do not have information on the incident in Tegh, or if it occurred in the Kornidzor area, but, probably, it is related to Kornidzor, as it is closer,” noted Ohanyan.
According to Seyran Ohanyan, peace is a fundamental value but not a guarantee of security. The guarantees of security are the Armed Forces, the military, unity, a balanced foreign policy, and negotiations. It is impossible to speak of peace with a state that regularly opens fire on you.
“There is a Nagorno-Karabakh issue. We must view the security of Armenia and Artsakh in the same context. For the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, it is very important to obtain a road, or more broadly, a corridor. As long as Azerbaijanis are on our borders, no work on any road or border demarcation should be conducted. They must withdraw and fulfill their obligations. Otherwise, there will be a serious economic blow in the Syunik area, and secondly, they will attempt to change the demographic picture; they will come and fill the region,” stated Ohanyan.
