Decisions Will Be Made Regarding the Events of November 9: 'Zhoghovurd'
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that after the end of the 2020 war, a group of citizens, outraged by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on the ceasefire from November 9, engaged in mass unrest in Yerevan at night. The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has initiated numerous criminal proceedings regarding these events, and the investigative body is set to make decisions in the near future.
According to exclusive information obtained by 'Zhoghovurd', many of the proceedings will be closed, as after three years, the investigative body has not found substantial evidence against the accused to send the case to court.
It is noteworthy that on the night of November 9, 2020, when the defeat of the Armenian side in the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the signing of a trilateral ceasefire statement became known, riots broke out in Yerevan, with attacks on the buildings of the National Assembly and the government.
As a result of this case, some citizens were sentenced to imprisonment, while investigations are still ongoing for many others at the NSS. The investigative body is expected to close cases for the majority of them due to insufficient evidence; there were group assaults, but it has not been determined who specifically was involved.
