VIDEO: "I saw my client on the ground, 5-6 police officers were hitting him," lawyer

During a press conference, lawyer Karen Alaverdyan presented details about an incident involving police violence.

"On June 7, at 16:00, my client and I were attending a court session at the Center residence of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction for another criminal case. During the session, a conversation arose between my client and his friend regarding personal issues and a friendship dispute. The court session was postponed due to the absence of witnesses. After the session, my client and I were walking on the sidewalk in front of the court when 20-30 police officers approached us," he stated.

According to him, exhibiting an unprofessional approach, they were unable to explain the purpose of their approach. "My client expressed a desire to present himself to the department and asked me to follow him. I went to the department, explained the purpose of my visit, and for 5-10 minutes, they attempted to create artificial obstacles for my client to go up. Eventually, we managed to reach the 4th floor. Approaching the office, I heard his screams and demands not to be beaten from inside. I opened the door and discovered my client on the ground, being beaten by 5-6 police officers in various parts of his body," the lawyer said.
