Parking Fees in Paid Parking Lots to Vary by Areas
In Armenia, the fee rates for parking in paid parking lots will vary according to zoning, and parking spaces for persons with disabilities will have differentiated markings.
The draft amendment to the law on the peculiarities of local fees and administrative proceedings for vehicle parking was presented by the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Armen Simonian, at a National Assembly session.
The draft law proposes to assign the features of marking paid parking lots to the Armenian government. Simonian noted that the adoption of this draft will simplify the process of implementing changes regarding the color and design of distinguishing markings for community paid parking lots, enhance the quick resolution of issues arising from local self-government bodies, ensure differentiated coloring of parking spaces designated for persons with disabilities, and make possible the implementation of a mechanism for differentiated fee rates based on zoning.
MP Alkhaz Ghazaryan from the ruling party's faction pointed out that the markings for persons with disabilities will be different from those for others. According to the Deputy Minister, there will also be changes in colors and designs. Currently, under existing legislation, the color is red, which he stated requires review.
The maximum payment rates are already established by law today. Once zoning is implemented, the community council will determine the differences in fees based on their decisions.
