Citizens Arrested on Suspicion of Drug Trafficking
The National Police of the Republic of Armenia has reported on cases of drug trafficking.
“Officers from the Arabkir Division’s Juvenile Affairs and Family Violence Prevention Unit received operational information about a 32-year-old resident of Moldovan Street in Yerevan who was involved in drug trafficking. To verify the information and apprehend the suspect, the division’s officers collaborated with the criminal investigators of the division. On June 1, during the day, the young man was arrested on Aram Khachatryan Street in the capital and transferred to the Arabkir Division. A personal search revealed approximately 13 grams of a greenish substance and a carbonized inhaler. Under pressure from the facts, he confessed that he had hidden 17 packages of marijuana in various hideouts in the Arabkir administrative district.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Arabkir Investigation Division, during which six packages were discovered in an inspection involving the 32-year-old. The young man has been transferred to a detention facility.
On June 5, similar information was received by officers from the Arabkir Division’s Juvenile Affairs and Family Violence Prevention Unit regarding a 27-year-old resident of Margaryan Street in the capital. Again, the information was acted upon in collaboration with criminal investigators. On June 5, the suspect was arrested on Aram Khachatryan Street and taken to the division. A personal search revealed 14 packages weighing approximately 13 grams of a greenish substance, along with a grinder and three inhalers. The young man confessed to having already placed two packages of marijuana for sale.
A criminal case has been initiated, an inspection has been conducted, and additional two packages of marijuana were found and removed from illegal circulation based on the young man’s indications regarding the hideouts. He has also been transferred to a detention facility.
